Traveling the globe for several years as an executive, I realized that my socks are one of the most important wardrobe items.

One day in April, packing my wardrobe for a trip to London I pulled a pair of folded socks out of the closet and threw them in my bag. After arriving in London, there was only a short time before I had to catch a meeting but enough time to get “re-freshened” at the hotel.  Getting dressed, sipping on a glass of club soda that I took out of the mini-bar; I grabbed the pair of black dress socks.

Slipping them on my feet, my toe pocked a nice big hole in the sock, letting me realize that I am in trouble. As always, I was packing only the exact amount of socks, but now, I was sitting on the couch looking at my toe and my socks and wondered, why did I not go shopping last weekend to get me some nice new socks. I knew for a while that my socks were on their “last leg”, but who thinks about going shopping for socks on the few days we are at home with the family?
